Xbox fans are furious as next blockbuster game is missing a key feature everyone wants

XBOX just held its latest Developer Direct, showing off five games coming to Xbox and PC in 2024.

One of the games shown is a long-awaited sequel and Xbox exclusive that initially wowed fans.

Over the years we’ve seen plenty of teasers for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, but we’ve never had an in-depth look at the upcoming game.

At the event, 10 minutes of gameplay and developer talks were shown, giving a deeper look into what the game will be like.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was released back in 2017, and made waves thanks to the story based on the protagonist’s struggles with psychosis.

It won numerous awards, such as Best Action Adventure Game, and the IGDA awards and Best Performance and gaming’s biggest award shows, The Game Awards.

The sequel was announced in 2019, and fans have been waiting for its release ever since.

Gamers were stunned by the gameplay shown, including some of the best graphics ever seen in gaming.

The sequel will build on aspects of the original, with a closer look at some of the aspects of Norse mythology and historic Iceland.

While everything shown during the Xbox Developer Direct excited fans, a post-showcase announcement had people furious.

After the Direct, a blog post went live on Xbox’s official website Xbox Wire.

While the release date, May 21, 2024, was shared during the showcase, other aspects of the release were hidden in the post.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will launch as a digital-only title and be available for $49.99/£49.99.

The blog reads: “We also took advantage of the freedom that digital-only distribution offered us to create a game of the length that fit perfectly with our intended experience but could be sold at a lower price to reflect the shorter length of our story.”

The original game was 8-10 hours long and the sequel will reportedly be a similar length.

While the game will be available at a lower price point, many people still purchase physical copies of games, as they worry about online services eventually shutting down.

There was similar outrage last year when Alan Wake 2 announced it would be digital only, and Hellblade 2 is the second major game to do so.
