XBOX surprised fans earlier this year by announcing a dramatic price increase for a number of products.

In June, the price of the Xbox Series X increased alongside the ever-popular Xbox Game Pass.

This was a huge disappointment for fans, as Xbox is often seen as the budget-friendly option when it comes to consoles.

The Xbox Series S, in particular, is almost half the price of the PS5, and much cheaper than the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck.

However, that could soon be changing as fans have noticed a significant price increase for the Series S in one region.

Brazilian gamers have noticed that the price of the cheaper Xbox Series S has received a price increase of 50%.

More in Xbox

The Series S used to retail in the country for between R$2k to R$2.5k (around £330 to £400).

It has since been spotted in stores for as much as R$3.5k, the equivalent of £570, more than the PS5 in many regions.

While Brazil is home to a huge number of gamers, video games, and consoles have always been known to be very expensive in the region.

As Brazil doesn’t have a huge gaming industry, the majority of hardware and software needs to be imported with high import taxes.

However, even for Brazilian standards, this is a huge price increase, and one that is sure to reduce the sales of Xbox in this region.

More importantly, the price increase in Brazil could mean that a price hike may be coming for the console in other regions.

While it is unlikely that the hike would be as high as 50% in other regions, it could still mean that a significant increase is on the way.
