Safari is the default web browser on iOS for your iPhone.

And if you’re not careful, you might find yourself hitting the cap of 500 tabs.

This makes it extremely difficult to navigate your tabs because it’s so messy.

Thankfully a Reddit user shared a way to close all of your tabs at once with a little-known button trick.

In the Reddit thread, they wrote: “After a decade of daily iPhone use, today I found out that you can close all tabs in Safari for iOS.

“Suffice to say, I wince when I think about all the times I spent 5-10 minutes manually closing a hundred or more tabs by spam-clicking the (x) in the top left corner of every tab.”

Try it: launch Safari and head into a tab that you’ve got open.

Then hold down on the two overlapping squares in the corner.

A pop-up menu will appear with an option to close all tabs (alongside the number of tabs open) instantly.

You can also access this option by holding down on the Done icon on the main tab-selector screen.

But there’s an even better way to set up your Safari.

It’s actually possible to set your Safari up to automatically kill tabs after a certain amount of times.

One user explained how this means “tabs never accumulate” – keeping your Safari relatively clear.

Another user replied: “Wow, that’s even better! Although I’ll probably set mine to more like a week.

“Sometimes I go on Wikipedia crawls that are 50 tabs deep and they’re not always completed in a single day.”

To do this, go into Settings > Safari > Close Tabs – three simple taps.

You can choose from:

  • Manually (the default option)
  • After One Day
  • After One Week
  • After One Month

You might find that After One Day is too soon, but the weekly or monthly options could be a great idea.
