THOUSANDS of Yahoo users appear to be without access to their emails due to a mysterious outage.
A huge surge in complaints was picked up by the Down Detector site little after 1.30pm GMT.

Is Yahoo Mail down?
Yahoo Mail appears to be down according to users writing on social media.
More than 5,000 alerts were picked up by Down Detector in the UK, but only about a hundred were logged from the US, so it may not be a global problem.
A slight uptick was reported for Yahoo in general and AOL – which are owned by the same company.

The latest problem started up around 1.30pm GMT on February 23, 2024.
Users took to X (formerly Twitter) to complain that the site was not loading properly and seek answers from the company.
“Anyone else having problems with yahoo account on i-phone?” one user wrote.
“Mine keeps closing down as soon as I open it in the app. No idea how to fix this, does anyone know?”

Yahoo has taken to X to explain that it’s investigating the problem.
“Some users may be experiencing issues with the Yahoo Mail app,” the company said.
“We are investigating and will update as needed.”
How can I check if Yahoo is down?
Those who may be experiencing difficulties with Yahoo can check another social media app, such as X or Facebook for reports.
If you don’t have an X account, Down Detector will tell users when the apps are down or experiencing difficulties.
If it appears the problem may not be widespread, try checking the internet connection on your device or exiting the app before logging back in.

When have there been Yahoo outages before?
There have been other reported Yahoo outages in the past including:
- July 2021: Yahoo’s mail service was reported down at about 3:30pm for about two hours.
- February 2021: Users reported problems both in Yahoo’s app and site.
- January 2021: Over 55 percent of people were unable to login into their email or read their mail.
- September 2020: Users had trouble logging in to the platform, with the most reports at 7pm.
