Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington feature in the movie Amsterdam. Along with other well-known actors, Anya Taylor-Joy, Taylor Swift, Robert De Niro, Chris Rock, and others have parts in Amsterdam.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bale disclosed that during a singing performance with Swift, director David O’Russell urged him and Washington to “shut up.”

Bale portrays Dr. Burt Berendsen in Amsterdam, while Robbie plays Valerie Voze, a nurse, and Washington plays Harold Woodsman, a lawyer.
The plot of the movie revolves around the three characters being accused of killing Bill Meekins, a senator from the United States (Ed Begley Jr.). Elizabeth Meekins, the senator’s daughter, is portrayed by Swift.
Bale said to The Hollywood Reporter that his family was thrilled by his work with Swift.
“That was a really pleasant surprise, and I didn’t actually let anyone know about it until after. You know who I sang with today, right? So I went to my daughter and told her. Swift, Taylor. She said, “Wait, what?” Why are you acting that way? said Bale.

Swift allowed Bale and Washington to sing alongside her during filming, but O’Russell wasn’t amused. Bale stated that O’Russell instructed him and Washington to “shut up” while they sang with Swift in the interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Because J.D. [John David Washington] and I had been rehearsing that song a little bit, it was actually a pretty humorous scenario. David had us sing it nonstop throughout the day, although occasionally I would forget the words. So I would glance at J.D., and he would gaze at me before forgetting as well. Therefore, I would have to speak it to him,” stated Bale.
“And suddenly we were going flat,” he continued. Although we had a wildly inconsistent pitch, we said, “Yeah, but the sensation is correct!” How about Christian and J.D. just shut up for this one and let Taylor handle it, David asks all of a sudden.
Christian Bale Thinks The Singer Has ‘An Angel’s Voice’
Bale understood that O’Russell made the correct decision after asking Washington and Bale to stop singing since Swift had “an angel’s voice.”
Bale told The Hollywood Reporter, “And it was like we had been stifling an angel’s voice all day long with our cacophony and our harsh, horrible voices.” So, having someone sing next to you who has such a lovely voice as hers is quite special. Oh my God, it was amazing.
On October 7, Amsterdam will have its North American theatrical release.
