Palmer Luckey is a American entrepreneur, born on September 19, 1992, in Long beach, California.
He is best known for starting Oculus VR, later rebranded as Meta Quest.
He was home-schooled by his mother, and spent time working on cars with his father, who was a mechanic.
When did Palmer Luckey found Oculus VR?
He launched Oculus VR in April 2012.
He sold the company to Facebook in 2014 for $2billion in cash and stock.
He also designed the original Oculus Rift, the first VR headset from the company, which was sold in various forms from 2016 to 2021.
His creation of the Oculus Rift was widely credited with reviving the virtual reality market.
He was able to get the money to put it into production through a Kickstarter campaign, as well as raising money by working other jobs, such as repairing iPhone’s.
