Which? will call on the regulator Ofcom to ban mid-contract price rises altogether
Broadband and mobile network providers should cancel the mid-contract price rises they plan to impose, consumer group Which? will urge on Friday.
It will also call on the regulator Ofcom to ban mid-contract price rises altogether.
Customers of providers including BT, EE, Plusnet, TalkTalk, Three, O2, Virgin Media and Vodafone currently face inflation-busting price increases every year.
Most saw bills rise in April by around 13 or 14 per cent. The rises even applied to customers in the middle of their contracts. Unless action is taken, customers will face another increase next April.

We believe raising prices mid-contract is grossly unfair. Customers who sign up for a deal have no idea what they will be paying by the end of the contract.
Rocio Concha, Which? director of policy and advocacy, says: ‘Like Which?, Money Mail knows these type of mid-contract price hikes are harmful for consumers, obfuscate prices and undermine competition.’
Many providers claim they determine their pricing for the next year in October or November. Therefore it is crucial action is taken now to adjust their policies.
