Where to buy the AirPods Pro 2

They’ll officially go on sale on Friday 23 September 2022, with any pre-ordered items shipping from then.

Given the stock issues that have plagued the tech world over the last couple of years,

If you’re keen on picking up Apple’s latest earbuds, our advice is to not assume they’ll be any cheaper in the Black Friday sales (they almost definitely won’t be), or that they’ll be widely available.

How much do the AirPods Pro 2 cost?

We all breathed a massive sigh of relief when the officials at Apple confirmed the price of the second-gen AirPods Pro 2 at the ‘Far Out’ event.

Priced £249 in the UK and $249 in the US, they’re exactly the same price as the first-generation AirPods Pro when they were first released back in 2019.

That’s in stark contrast to the iPhone 14, which has seen a painful price hike here in the UK, costing £50 than its predecessor the iPhone 13 did upon its release.

AirPods Pro 2 vs AirPods Pro

The question a lot of people are asking themselves is if the new AirPods Pro 2 are worth the spend.

That’s especially the case with anybody who owns the original AirPods Pro, which remain an absolutely superb piece of audio tech, even if they’re no longer top-of-the-line.

Here’s a quick rundown of the upgrades you can expect from the second-generation earbuds:

  • Apple claims that the new AirPods Pro’s noise-cancelling tech is twice as good as those of the first-generation earbuds
  • The new H2 internal chip should offer an improved and higher-quality sound profile
  • The Personalised Spatial Audio feature will offer you an even better tailor-made experience
  • The AirPods Pro 2 will come with an extra size of ear-tip: XS. (Perfect for those with smaller lugs.)
  • The new AirPods Pro’s battery life has been significantly boosted – you’ll now get six hours’ performance from a single charge (versus four from the previous generation) and 30 hours with the charging case (versus 24 hours of the first-gen)

Despite rumours to the contrary, the new AirPods Pro will still be featuring the iconic stems of the originals and design-wise there’s no major change.
