This year there will be money-off top brands like Lego, Bosch, Fitbit and Philips plus more, from small and medium-sized businesses selling on Amazon.

Amazon is also running a promotion currently where you can bag yourself a £10 credit ahead of the sale and use it to spend on Prime Day, reducing the price you pay for top products even more.

Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s Amazon Prime Day.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is an online sale the retail giant holds every year.

It was originally launched in 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 20th birthday, but has since evolved into a cult-like sale a bit like Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

It lasts for two days, and only Amazon Prime members can access the deals.

Shoppers can snap up huge deals on Amazon’s own brand items or other branded goods and house-hold names across a variety of departments, including tech, booze and clothing.

Some offers are available for the entire period of Amazon Prime Day, while “Lightning Deals” are only available for a limited time like a few hours.

How can I get the deals?

To get involved in the two-day sales extravaganza, you must be an Amazon Prime member.

The premium membership also gets customers free next day delivery and access to Prime TV shows, eBooks and even live music events.

However, it costs £79 per year or £7.99 per month, depending on the payment plan you choose.

But there is a trick you can use to take advantage of the sale if you’re not currently a member.

Our tips for finding the best deals this Amazon Prime Day

IT might be tempting to dive in and snap up LOADS of items, but here’s how you can guarantee you’re getting a good deal on Amazon.

PREPARE Research the items you want to buy and find out the cheapest price. Websites like PriceSpy, PriceHistory and CamelCamelCamel will give you historical data on prices so you can see how much you should pay. You can also set up price alerts to let you know when the cost drops.

CHECK CAREFULLY Use FakeSpot to check whether the item is genuine or not. The site scans the reviews to see if they’re “reliable” or not so you can decide whther you trust the seller.

TRIAL IT FIRST Sign up to the 30 day Amazon Prime trial to take advantage of the Lightning Deals and free delivery. But remember to cancel the subscription before the trial is up or you’ll be charged the full £79.

SHOP NOW TO SAVE TIME Put the items you want in your basket ahead of Black Friday so that when the deals drop on June 21, all you’ll have to do is pay.

Sign up for free to get a 30-day Amazon Prime trial here, and then cancel the membership before the trial is up.

Make sure you remember to cancel the subscription though, otherwise you’ll be charged the full amount.

You can also get a heavily discounted student membership. There’s a six month free trial and then after that you’re charged £3.99 a month.

When does it start?

Amazon Prime Day 2021 starts TODAY (June 21) at 00.01am, and ends on June 22 at 23.59pm.

So you’ll have 48 hours to cash in on the deals and discounts.

An Amazon spokesperson said: “Customers can say, ‘Alexa, keep me posted on Prime Day’ to stay informed.”

Last year’s Prime Day was pushed back to October 13 due to the Covid crisis, and ended at 11.59 on October 14.

What offers are running?

We don’t know exactly what deals will drop on the day itself, especially as things like “Lightening Deals” will only run for limited times.

But some offers have already begun, like how Prime members can get three months of Audible membership for just 99p from now until June 22.

The Amazon Echo Dot and Amazon Echo are both available for record low prices right now as well as Amazon is currently running an up to 40% off devices deal.

Plus, until June 20, Amazon is offering a £10 credit to use on Prime Day to members who spend £10 on items sold by UK small businesses.
