WhatsApp regularly adds new features to the app.

But before they go live on your phone, they get tested in the “beta” app.

This is a test version of WhatsApp used to trial new features – in case they need any major changes.

And the WhatsApp watchers at WABetaInfo regularly mine this app to uncover updates.

The code-scanners have revealed a host of changes currently in development or testing at WhatsApp.

Here’s what they’ve found.

What’s coming to WhatsApp?

This means you can access a document revealing what WhatsApp knows about you from a computer.

There’s a new app footer explaining when chats are end-to-end encrypted.

A WhatsApp Premium plan is in the works that gives bonus features to business accounts.

WhatsApp is working on a way to silently exit groups so that only admins (and not other members) are notified.

Sharing links in a WhatsApp status will generate a “rich preview”, rather than looking just like a URL.

WhatsApp is developing a feature that lets you view a list of past participants for a group.

And the app is working to end support for iOS 10 and iOS 11, which means owners of old iPhones will need to update or upgrade.

If you want to try new WhatsApp features before anyone else, follow our guide on how to join the WhatsApp beta below.
