MILLIONS of households will have received their £150 council tax rebate – but here’s what to do if you’re still waiting for yours.
In February, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced 28million taxpayers would get the relief to help ease the cost of living pinch.
You are entitled to the one-off cash payment if your property falls within the council tax band of A to D.
It is dished out by your local council and does not need to be paid back, so it is free cash to help you pay for spiralling bills.
However, the exact date you’ll see it land in your account varies depending on who your local authority is and how you pay your council tax bill.
While many households have been paid the relief already, thousands are still waiting.
Here’s what to do if you haven’t received the help – and why it might be delayed.
Why haven’t I got my £150 discount yet?
The way that the £150 discount is dished out varies from council to council.
If you haven’t got your £150 discount yet, it might not be because your council has forgotten to pay you – it could be that payments have been delayed.

Although Mr Sunak said the money was set to land in accounts from April, households have been warned they could face up to an extra six months waiting for the help.
That’s because some of the delays have been down to software system issues.
According to reports, technology needed to pay the cash in one go to all households is coming up against problems.
You might also pay your council tax bill manually.
Having a direct debit set up means the council has your details and can process the £150 payment automatically.
If you don’t pay direct debit and make a payment each month manually, you may have to apply for the cash which can take longer.
What do I do if I haven’t got the discount?
Households were initially told that they shouldn’t ring their local council up chasing for the payment.
But if you still haven’t got the help and think you should have by now, then it’s worth contacting your local council.
Many have put up instructions on their websites on what to do if you have not got your money by a certain point.
For example, Hounslow Council said residents should contact it if they didn’t get a letter about the rebate in May.
While North East Lincolnshire Council said residents who do not pay by direct debit should contact it 15 working days after you’ve put in your application for the money if you’ve not got it yet.
While Dacorum Council said households should email its energy bills rebate email address if they haven’t received their payment yet.
