She was born and brought up in Okayama, Japan, with her two sisters, her being the middle child. She was interested in golf from a very young age; when she was in second grade, Hinako started playing golf and softball. Shibuno was a pitcher and a converted left-handed hitter as a softball player.
In the 2010 Okayama Prefecture Junior Golf Championship, she finished in third place. During her junior year in high school, she joined the school’s baseball club as the only female player on the team.
