Michelle Witherelle was found nearly dead on road beneath her apartment’s balcony.

While her case was first deemed as suicide but after her relatives and family provided several possible evidence of possible homicide, in January 1998, the Allegheny County Coroner’s Office reopened the investigation into Michelle’s death, ruling it a homicide according to Unsolved Mysteries.
Jeremy was charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter on December 20, 1999, seven years to the day after Michelle’s death.
Among various witnesses on his trial was Geoffrey Patterson, Jeremy’s pal. They went out to supper on the first anniversary of Michelle’s death. During this time, he almost admitted to murdering her, saying that things had gotten out of hand, that he was sorry, and that “it” shouldn’t have occurred.
Jeremy, on the other hand, was cleared of all counts in January 2001. Conflicting testimony concerning the cause of Michelle’s injuries affected the jury’s decision, according to the jurors.
