What’s more, Amazon announced that if users don’t want to watch the limited ads, they need to pay $2.99 a month on top of their normal fees.

The tech giant claims that the introduction of ads is necessary to fund investments in high-quality content.

However, users remain unconvinced and as a result, social media has been rife with people expressing their frustration.

Many are threatening to cancel their Prime memberships altogether, while others are vowing to switch to other streaming services.

Most recently, many Prime subscribers took to Reddit to share why they’re canceling their memberships.

One Reddit user with the handle @BlastBob9 created a thread titled “Are you kidding me? Like.. whoa.”

Below the title, the user shared a screenshot of his Prime Video content featuring a 2-minute advertisement.

“Two mins of ads that I cannot skip and right after this, I had to rewind 20 seconds and there comes another 1:20 ads,” the user said.

“The f am I paying for? I’m done!” they added.

The post got upvoted on Reddit dozens of times and received dozens of responses from disgruntled Prime members.

Secret ways to cut costs of your streaming subscriptions

“TV series is still bearable, but watching movies and having an advert every 20 min is tragic,” one Reddit user said.

“THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING BEFORE EVERYONE LEAVES!!!” they emphasized.

“This is why we choose to sub to ad-free tiers on our services,” another said.

“Hulu, Netflix, Peacock, Paramount, MAX, etc. Gone are the days when streaming meant no ads, sadly,” they added.
