WETHERSPOONS will reopen 860 pubs for indoor service from next Monday as coronvirus restrictions are eased further.

Customers will be able to pick from the full menu too and meal clubs, such as curry and steak nights, will return.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister confirmed that England can move into phase 3 of his roadmap out of lockdown from May 17 as planned.

It means pubs and restaurants in England can reopen for indoor service and hotels can welcome back holidaymakers for staycations.

Wetherspoons plans to open 309 more pubs next week, including a new branch, The Buck Inn in Northallerton.

Pubs will open from 8am until midnight from Sunday through to Thursday, and 8am until 1am on Friday and Saturday.

Which Wetherspoons pubs WON’T be reopening?

WETHERSPOONS has said it won’t be reopening six of its pubs on May 17, even though boozers will be allowed to open for indoor service.

This is because they are in airports or conference centres, which are not expected to be busy due to restrictions that are still in place, such as travel to countries on the ‘red’ list.

Branches remaining closed are:

  • Two pubs in the NEC, Birmingham
  • Stansted airport
  • Doncaster airport
  • Edinburgh airport
  • Glasgow airport

There are only six pubs the chain won’t be reopening – two at the NEC in Birmingham, and ones at Stansted, Doncaster, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports.

Since April 12, pubs have only been allowed to pull pints for punters in beer gardens – but just 40% of the industry has been able to do so, according to industry bodies.

Four-hundred-and-thirty-eight Wetherspoons pubs in England are already open but they are offering a reduced menu due to limited seating capacity.

It’s meant that ‘Spoons customers haven’t been able to order its famous curries, mixed grills and steaks since boozers reopened.

But the favourite dishes are back from next week and punters will also be able to bag meal deals again.

Tuesday will see the return of steak club, while curry club is back on Thursday. Fish Friday is also making a comeback as well as Sunday brunch.

The deals include a meal and a drink but prices vary depending on the branch so it’s worth checking in before placing an order.

But for example, customers can expect to pay around £7.95 for a curry club meal with an alcoholic drink or £6.65 for a soft drink with your food.

Customers will still have to follow a strict set of rules when pubs reopen for indoor service though, including wearing a mask when not sat at a table.

There are currently 32 Wetherspoons branches open for outdoor service in Wales – the remaining 18 are expected to open for indoor dining from Monday too.

The 60 ‘Spoons pubs in Scotland are already open for indoor customers, although they’re not allowed to service booze except to outdoor drinkers.

Three branches in Northern Ireland are also open for outdoor service. Restrictions are not expected to ease to allow indoor service until May 24.

Saunas and spas have also been given the green light to reopen from Monday May 17.

Up to 10,000 fans will be allowed in stadiums to watch big sporting events for the first time in over a year.

Meanwhile, two households will be allowed to mix indoors and overnight, as long as they follow the rule of six.
