JUST when it seems like the price of everything is going up, Wetherspoon is slashing the cost of some of its most popular dishes.

The pub chain is lowering prices on some of its meals from tomorrow, November 10.

The move will mean punters can get a breakfast, pub classic or deli meal for less as well as cheaper curries and steaks.

But the price cut won’t last forever – Wetherspoon says the discounts will be in place until at least Monday, February 2022.

Spoons is known for its bargain prices, and even cut the price of a pint to 99p this month.

Although the pub chain has also been mocked for its sometimes measly chip portion sizes.

Still, low prices and surprisingly beautiful buildings have gained the chain an army of fans.

One teetotal fanatic even visited 373 branches, despite not drinking a single pint in any of them, while another got a tattoo in homage to his favourite pub.

Customers don’t need to do anything quite so drastic to enjoy this latest discount.

Some 660 Wetherspoon pubs will offer the reduced prices, which will see a breakfast muffin containing a tasty fried egg, sausage, bacon and cheese in an English muffin served with a hot drink for just £2.49.

Breakfast items are served from 8am until 11.30am, but then there are still plenty of reduced prices to get stuck into on the lunch and dinner menu.

Which meals are included in the deal?

Classics such as fish and chips, five-bean chilli, wraps and paninis will cost just £3.99 with a soft drink and £5.29 with an alcoholic drink.

And Spoons’ famous steak club will be part of the deal too. On Tuesdays a classic 8oz sirloin steak with a soft drink will set you back just £6.99 with a soft drink or £8.29 with an alcoholic drink.

While the Curry Club on a Thursday will get you your favourite jalfrezi, madras, chicken tikka masala and cauliflower and spinach curry with rice, naan and poppadums for £5.99 with a soft drink and £7.29 with an alcoholic drink.

Prices vary depending on location and Wetherspoon said another 180 of its pubs would be serving the meals at slightly higher prices, which would still be a saving on their current price.

Wetherspoon’s chairman Tim Martin, said: “Wetherspoon is known for giving its customers  value-for-money-prices on food and drink at all times and our new pricing means that they will be able to enjoy even better value meals through to the end of February 2022.”

The move is the latest bit of good news for drinkers. In last month’s Autumn Budget, Chancellor Rishi Sunak unveiled a major overhaul of alcohol tax which should bring down the price of a pint.

It comes at a time when many families are feeling the squeeze from a cost of living crisis.

Rising inflation is pushing up the price of everything from the food shop to energy bills.

The Bank of England warned inflation could hit 5% next year.
