RESIDENTS of a newbuild housing estate have slammed their developer as an “unsightly” and “dangerous” road remains unfinished.

The people living on the Langley Park estate in Maidstone, Kent, say they are still blighted by huge potholes and damage to their cars three years on.

Fran Carver, who moved in in 2020, told Kent Online: “The first people moved in here eight years ago, so I really feel that this is unacceptable.

“We have already had to replace two tyres this year due to the poor state of the road and the debris strewn about.”

She also alleged that locals were “fobbed off” by developers Taylor Wimpey about when the road would be repaired.

The company said it is trying to complete the work “as soon as possible”.

Another issue, according to Fran, is a lack of proper drainage, meaning that the street becomes a “swimming pool” when it rains, which she blasted as a “serious safety hazard”.

She even claimed that her husband had to fill in part of the road himself with sand just to stop it from flooding.

Her neighbour, Ronnie McKeown, who uses a wheelchair, said it is like “living in a prison“, and claimed he had fallen out of his chair three times because of the poor surfacing.

He said: “It’s not like they are still doing any work.

“The builders pulled out three weeks ago, just leaving piles of rubble and tarmac everywhere. It’s a mess.”

Another resident said that the road was “horrendous” and that workmen had “just left it and gone”.

A spokesperson for Taylor Wimpey said: “We understand the concerns of local residents and would like to assure them that we are committed to completing the outstanding works to Edmett Way as soon as possible.

“We will remain in close contact with Kent County Council Highways as we finalise the programme of work and would like to thank residents for their patience.”

It comes after another newbuild dream became a nightmare for a group of residents in Nottinghamshire over a warehouse and a car park.

Meanwhile, pensioner Brits lost tens of thousands in their own newbuild hell in the UAE.
