WENDY’S has revealed four items that will be top of the menu when the first UK branch opens in Reading.
The full menu has yet to be announced, but the chain confirmed that it will be bringing its popular Dave’s Burger to British shores this year.
Dave’s Single burger is made with a quarter-pound of fresh beef, American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomato, pickle, ketchup, mayo, and onion all on a toasted bun.
Next up on the menu will be fan favourite and signature Wendy’s dessert: the Chocolate Frosty.
Thick enough to use a spoon and smooth enough to use a straw, this dessert is like a cross between an ice cream and a milkshake.
Last year, Wendy’s brought back its chicken burger to restaurants in America along with other fast food chains, sparking a “chicken burger war”.
The chain will be keeping the Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich on its UK menu too, so British fans can see what all the fuss is about.
It’s made with a juicy chicken breast marinated and breaded in a fiery blend of peppers and spices, cooled down with crisp lettuce, tomato, and mayo.
If you fancy something healthier, you’ll be pleased to know that Wendy’s will also be including some of its salads on the menu.
For instance, the Avocado Chicken Salad is made fresh with lettuce, cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, creamy avocado, Applewood smoked bacon, and grilled chicken breast hot off the grill, all topped with Southwest Ranch Dressing.
So far, those are the only four items that Wendy’s has revealed, but a spokesperson confirmed that the full menu will be announced in due course.
The Wendy’s USA menu includes hamburgers, pretzel burgers, breakfast burgers, croissant bun burgers, chicken nuggets and more.
Wendy’s has also released some pictures showing what the brand new UK restaurant in Reading will look like – when it opens later this year.
The designer says that the interior has a cool vibe with a focus on natural wood, dark contrasts, comfortable seating and fun art.
Creating a frictionless and convenient experience was also central to the Wendy’s design, and the chain will allow customers to order via mobile before they set foot in the restaurant, at a kiosk once they arrive or at a traditional front counter.
There’s even an exterior walk-up window to create speedy access for delivery providers so customers can get their Wendy’s food even faster.
So far, Wendy’s has confirmed that the first UK location will be in Reading with a second opening shortly afterwards in Oxford.
The chain has also hinted that it is considering London for at least one new branch.
Wendy’s is the third largest burger chain in the world after McDonald’s and Burger King, and already has 6,700 outlets in 30 countries around the world.
This isn’t the first time Wendy’s has tried to cross the pond – it first came to the UK in the 1980s and 1990s, but then decided to close all its UK stores in 1999.
In other fast food news, McDonald’s has 30% off everything on its menu tomorrow.
Here’s the limited menus for McDonald’s, KFC, Nando’s and Greggs explained.
And we explain how to order the ‘secret’ KFC hash brown Double Down burger in the UK.
