THE UK’S luckiest place, where residents are most likely to win the postcode lottery, has been revealed.

The People’s Postcode Lottery was launched in 2005 and gives out a million pounds to Brits every week – based entirely on where they live.

But residents in a Shropshire town have been named the luckiest in the UK, according to new research.

People living in Telford have most often been selected as weekly winners of the jackpot, having racked up an average of 42.14 wins per 10,000 households, BirminghamLive reports.

The town is followed by Shrewsbury, where an average of 41.57 wins have been recorded.

At the other end of the spectrum, postcodes in London have been deemed the unluckiest in the UK.

The capital is home to nine of the bottom 10 postcodes, with West Central London amassing just 8.48 winds per 10,000 households.

Around 60 per cent of British households participate in the Postcode Lottery,

The research has been carried out by casino website Mr Spin using data from the National Lottery.

They divided the number of estimated active players in each postcode by 10,000, before multiplying the total by the number of wins recorded in that area since records began in 2011.

Joy Liu, digital marketing coordinator at Mr Spin, said: “Although you have a small chance of winning big in the Postcode Lottery, as long as the £12 monthly fee is affordable for the entrant, it is often a worthwhile investment.

“As a trusted and responsible UK lottery, it has provided so many people with fortunate breaks.

“It is ultimately fascinating to learn where traditionally is the luckiest place to live as well as the unluckiest.”
