MILLIONS of telly watchers use Freeview every day to tune in to their favourite shows.

But a broadcast signal change could leave you without your favourite channels from today – unless you act now.

Will you be affected by this new change?

The change is being made due to EE’s new 5G technology. And old broadcast signal called COM7 Multiplex is closing to make way for the newer technology.

This means Freeview is forced to make new changes because they now have less bandwidth to work with.

Freeview users will have to retune their TV’s or set-up boxes to keep some of their beloved TV channels.

BBC Four HD, Cbeebies HD and Together TV channels will still be available but you’ll need to act to make sure you can continue watching them.

But some channels will close altogether – meaning you’ll no longer be able to watch them via Freeview.

The channels that are closing are:

  • Freesports 65
  • CBS Justice 69
  • More4+186
  • PBS America +1 87
  • Forces TV 96
  • BBC News HD 107
  • QVC HD 111
  • QVC Beauty HD 112
  • Quest HD 114
  • Craft Extra 95

And there are further changes taking place as well that can affect your viewing as some channels will be rebranding.

4 Music will be known as E4 Extra, whilst the Horror channel will be known as Legend.

That’s Music will become Classic Hits who will have increased coverage.

However, some channels are reducing their coverage. CBS Drama will become Reality Xtra who will have a reduced coverage. Now 80’s will only be available in Manchester.

Freeview has recommended you run a new system update which should ensure your channels stay updated.

A spokesperson stated: “Since the decision by Ofcom to make more airwaves available for mobile data, the Ofcom licence for some channels broadcasting on Freeview has expired.

“This means that affected channels are making changes to the way they are broadcast moving forward.”

On the system update, they said: “Channels will be making changes to the way they are broadcast on June 29. 2022. You will need to retune your TV to continue watching these channels.”

TV channels aren’t the only thing that’s changing. Broadband customers have been warned about early cancellation fees.

However, if your broadband fees are increasing and becoming expensive, there is a way to move deals without incurring a penalty.
