ANYONE who’s thinking about buying an iPhone right now should stop what they are doing immediately.
Apple is merely weeks away from unveiling its latest smartphone, the iPhone 14, and purchasing a new apple device before this time would be a very bad idea.

While there has been a raft of rumours and leaks emerging about the top-secret gadget, which is expected to hit shelves next month, one thing that’s almost certain is a shift in price.
For one, the upcoming iPhone will likely retail for the same price as the iPhone 13 when it was unveiled last year, meaning you’ll get a much better iPhone for a very similar price as the previous model if you can just hang on a little longer.
Even if you’re not so fussed about having the latest and greatest device, it’s expected that the iPhone 13 will come down in price, too. Why? Because the same has happened year after year.
It did so with the iPhone 12 last year, for example. The 64GB iPhone 12 saw its price tag slashed by £100 right after the iPhone 13 was announced. The iPhone 11, meanwhile, dropped to just £500.
So, if you can wait a few weeks before buying a new iPhone, you might just save yourself a pretty packet.
Apple iPhone 14 release date
If you’re desperate to get your hands on a new iPhone but want to take advantage of the price cuts, how long do you have to wait?
Well, we don’t know for certain yet when Apple will officially reveal its latest smartphone to the world.

But since the company is a creature of habit, sticking to an obvious pattern for iPhone releases each year, we’re predicting it to be in the next few weeks.
The big launch event always takes place in September, and generally falls early on in the month – on a Tuesday or Wednesday, typically.
This means that for 2022, we’d expect the event to take place on Tuesday, September 13 or Wednesday, September 14.
If correct, that would be followed by iPhone 14 pre-orders on Friday, September 16, followed by an actual release date of Friday, September 23.
We expect to know more about the Apple event the week before it’s due to take place, so September 6 or 7.
iPhone 14: what to expect
So what can we expect from the iPhone 14 when it does finally launch?
Experts think Apple is plotting a big move for the iPhone 14, with some pretty significant improvements over last year’s device, especially since Apple only made small changes when moving from iPhone 12 to iPhone 13.
For one, the internet rumour mill suggests the iPhone 14 Pro models will be getting a major facelift.
All rumours point to the removal of the “notch” – the bit of the bezel that juts out into the top of the screen, which was introduced in 2017 with the iPhone X.
Another feature we’re expecting in the iPhone 14 is a much faster experience overall with the arrival of a new chip.
We’re expecting the speedy A16 to debut in September, packing even more power than the iPhone 13’s A15.
However, there’s talk of a slight change this year, with rumours suggesting that the regular iPhone 14 models will stick with last year’s A15 Bionic chip. According to insiders, only the iPhone 14 Pro models will get the upgrade to the A16 processor.
Still, we won’t know for certain until Apple chief Tim Cook takes the stage in September to announce the new models. Until then, we’d recommend taking all leaks and rumours with a pinch of salt.
