GOOGLE has a clever feature that can help keep your other valuable devices extremely safe.

It’s all to do with the your phone’s built-in security key, which checks if it’s physically close to your laptop or other device.

It does this using Bluetooth.

So, when someone tries to sign into your account, Google will check to see if there’s a Bluetooth signal between that device and your phone’s built-in security key.

This means even if a hacker gets hold of your password you can keep them locked out.

It works with anything running current versions of Chrome OS, iOS, macOS, and Windows.

To set it up, first you’ll need either 2-Step Verification switched on.

You can do this by opening your Google Account and going to Security.

Find 2-Step Verification and select Get Started.

Once that’s done, scroll to Security key and tap the Right arrow.

At the bottom left, you’ll find Add security key.

Select your Android smartphone, then Add.

To take advantage from your computer, make sure Bluetooth is on.

On a computer or Chromebook, sign in to your Google Account using a supported browser, like Chrome.

On an iPhone or iPad, sign in to your Google Account using the Smart Lock app.

Look for a notification on your phone.

Double-tap the “Are you trying to sign in?” notification.

Follow the instructions to confirm it’s you signing in.
