Shoppers will no longer be able to get their hands on the Beetroot and Sweet Chilli Jam flavour which is made with real vegetables.

The flavour only came onto the scene in 2019 just over five years later shoppers will need to say goodbye to the iconic sweet crisp.

The news was revealed on X, formerly known as Twitter when a Beetroot and Sweet Chilli Jam reached out to Walkers to ask why they couldn’t find the crisps in store.

They said: “Are you still doing the baked crisps, beetroot with chilli sauce flavour?”

The official Walkers Crisps account replied to confirm the sad truth, that they were no longer making them.

Walkers said: “Sadly, not but thanks for asking!”

The crisp fan made their feeling known in their response saying: “Well that’s not good,” followed by an angry face emoji.

Someone else expressed their frustration online claiming that as a healthier crisp Walkers should be looking to keep it.

They said: “They shouldn’t axe a healthy version of crisps if it’s selling well and if you think about it it could get kids into eating healthier snacks,  so why fix something if it’s not broken???”

Another X user said: “Now I’m really, REALLY sad!”

The Sun has reached out to Walkers for comment.

The last supermarket you could get your hands on was Asda but the flavour is now listed as unavailable.

Although the flavour received mixed reviews, many fans have stood by it.

One fan said: “These are a lovely texture and flavour. I don’t often like beetroot crisps because of the earthy taste but these have a sweetness about them.”

“The texture is almost biscuity. They are a favourite of ours now.”

Another said: “Yum yum !! Very tasty, especially with a dip !”

A third reviewer on X said: “Your new oven baked with veg beetroot and sweet chilli jam crisps will be one of my happy memories from Covid19 lockdown. Phenomenal”

You will need to head to an online retailer to get your hands on what stock is still in circulation, you’ll most likely find them on Amazon

On Amazon, you may need to buy the crisps in a multipack which may cost you a bit more and bear in mind you will need to factor in a delivery charge.

Full list of Walkers crisp flavours discontinued

We have put together a list of all of the popular crisp flavours that have Walker have axed in recent months.

  1. Worcester Sauce – Last year there was uproar on social media after Walkers confirmed it had stopped making the popular Worcester Sauce flavour.
  2. Max Fiercely Flamin Hot – This flavour was launched in 2021 to attract a younger audience. Fans of this flavour were left devastated in November 2023 when the crisps were pulled off the shelves for good.
  3. Beef and Onion – Snack fans were shocked when the beef and onion flavour was nowhere to be seen in supermarkets. The much-loved flavour was discontinued in 2022 but fans only found out last year
  4. Sizzling Steak Wotsits – The retro flavour was previously sold as BBQ beef but was pulled from the shelves in the early 2000s. It briefly returned to the stores in January 2020 due to popular demand but was gone for good shortly after.
  5. Peking Spare Rib oriental crackers – Walkers confirmed in November last year that it has discontinued yet another crisp flavour which was inspired by flavours from around the world.
  6. Salt and Vinegar Quavers – This flavour was first introduced back in 1993 and returned to the lineup in 2021 along with prawn cocktail Quavers after demands from crisp lovers. But sadly the crisp has gone once again.
  7. Sensational Regal Lamb and Mint – The popular flavour was only available for a specific occasion – the King’s Coronation.
  8. Marmite – This controversial flavour has been on the shelves for over 20 years but was discontinued at the end of 2023. But it looks like Marmite are picking up the baton as they recently announced they would start producing their own brand of crisps.
  9. Tear ‘n’ Share crisps – Walkers confirmed it had discontinued its Tear ‘n’ Share crisps back in January. The crisps are thicker-cut crisps that come in a distinct bag that turns in an easy-to-share bowl. Walkers confirmed these have been discontinued for several years.
  10. Smiths Cheese Moments  -Dubbed by the fans as “the most underrated crisps ever”, this snack was generally sold in pubs. It has even been called “king of all crisps” but sadly was discontinued forever.
  11. Beetroot and Sweet Chilli Jam -Fans have learned this month that Walkers has stopped making the Beetroot and Sweet Chilli Jam in its oven-baked range. The flavour came into the scene in 2019 and was made with real vegetables.

If you’re a Walkers fan check out the two new Sensations flavours that have launched in stores.
