Virgin Media told The Sun that only customers in the South West were affected by the issue, adding that the issue had been fixed before 10am.

It comes as millions of Brits still continue to work from home due to Covid restrictions.

Virgin Media has around 6.1million broadband customers signed up to its service.

Around 76% of the complaints were down to cable internet issues, 18% were about mobile internet problems, and 4% were about TV issues.

Many customers took to social media to complain.

One said her internet, TV and “every other device” in her house wasn’t working due to the crash.

“Paying £150 a month to have this happen regularly isn’t acceptable!”, they said.

Another tweeted they were suffering “constant outages” and slammed Virgin Media for “really poor service”.

A number of people also said they couldn’t get onto Virgin Media’s service status website page to check when they would be able to get back online.

“Unable to get any internet this morning,” one customer said. “Also, your service status seems to be down.”

Another said: “I’ve tried checking the service on their app but it’s not working either!”

Some also complained they had trouble getting through to Virgin Media’s helpline when they called up for help.

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “We apologise to customers in the South West who experienced issues with their broadband and TV services this morning.

“The issue has now been resolved.”

It’s not the first time customers have experienced problems with their internet.

Up to 1,700 customers complained about a service crash earlier in April.

The outage lasted around 15 minutes and affected customers primarily in the south of England.

Thousands of Brits were also affected by a spat of issues in March.

Customers suffered three outages during that month, with a couple happening two days in a row.

Virgin Media broadband last went down for hundreds of customers on January 18 following an outage in Guildford, Surrey.

Almost 700 people were struggling to use the internet at its peak, according to outage tracker DownDetector, but the problem was fixed during the day.

Previously, the provider last experienced issues on August 13 after its network was hit by a series of outages.
