Some customers are even complaining of a total blackout.

According to the website, 68% are complaining of landline and internet problems, 25% reported a total blackout and 7% have mobile internet issues.

A Virgin Media spokesperson said the provider is aware of a fault affecting broadband services for customers in and around Reading.

He added: “There is no national broadband outage affecting our network.

“We are working as quickly as possible to restore services and apologise to those affected.”

Virgin Media has approximately 3.2million internet, call, TV or mobile customers in the UK.

Some angry customers took to social media to complain.

One said: “My internet is done and the service status page on your website is blank so I can’t check status or run diagnostics. Are there known issues?”

Another added: “My home broadband is down and the service status page won’t load (ironically). What can I do to get this fixed as I’m trying to WFH.”

Virgin responded to a comment on Twitter addressing the problems.

It said: “We are currently aware of an ongoing issue affecting Reading and surrounding areas and are working on getting this fixed as soon as possible.

“I’m sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

It’s not the first time Virgin Media customers have had outage troubles.

In May, thousands of customers complained of internet issues.

Customers with other providers have also been experiencing issues recently too.

Earlier today, BT Internet customers were unable to access their email.

Virgin Media has a dedicated web page where you can find out if there are any problems in your area.

You can visit the My Virgin service update website to check for yourself.

To find out if there are problems in your area, just enter your postcode.

If you’re suffering issues with your internet, call or mobile services you may be entitled to compensation.

Internet firms usually pay out £8 for each day broadband and home phone services are not repaired after two full days of no service.

The Sun has contacted Virgin Media to ask if there’s compensation available to affected customers.
