A WOMAN has advertised a “sweet deal” ensuite room to rent with a “killer view” but you have to share the bed with her.

The advert to share a bedroom for £590 a month in Manor House, Hackney has sparked a huge reaction on social media, with some suggesting the posting is from a BBC sitcom.

The advert, posted on spareroom.co.uk, reads: “I work as a marketing professional in an ed-tech company.

“I’ve got a sweet deal for you – an awesome ensuite room to SHARE WITH ME with loads of space for all your stuff, both in the bedroom and bathroom.

“Comfy mattress, plenty of IKEA furniture to keep things neat, plus a desk and chair for your work or study sessions.

“The house is pretty spacious too, with a huge living room and kitchen, and tons of storage in the kitchen.

“Oh, and don’t forget the balcony – killer view of a reservoir! Location’s spot on – just a 5-minute walk from Manor House (Piccadilly Line) and a 15-minute stroll from Finsbury Park (Victoria Line).

Rent doesn’t include bills, but they’re just an extra £100 (council tax + water tax + wifi + electricity).”

The advert explains the room is available for a limited time frame. It continues: “Just a heads up, the room’s up for grabs from March 12th to May 21st. Wanna stay longer? No problem – you can move back in on June 26th.”

The unusual listing led to a lively debate on social media. One person posted on X: “Pretty sure there was a BBC Sounds sitcom a few years ago about exactly this ‘unlikely’ and ‘far-fetched’ scenario.”

A recent poll revealed that many Brits are prepared to live with their parents while they save money to get on the property ladder.

A poll of 2,000 renters with an ambition to buy a home found while 52% of those considering it feel it’s a move backwards, 91% consider it a short-term sacrifice for a long-term gain.

Around 22% of those surveyed estimate that making the move could allow them to save enough for a house deposit within a year.

By moving into the ‘Hotel of Mum and Dad’ they could save around £800 each month.

Currently, rising rents and the cost of living means the tenants polled are only able to save £187 a month towards their first house deposits.
