Tesco has said there’s more than £16million in Clubcard points that are due to expire within weeks.

The vouchers, which were first issued in February 2021, will expire on February 28 and will help households up and down the UK.

Shoppers can use Clubcard vouchers in-store and online to save money on their Tesco shop

If you decide to use your vouchers for your Tesco shop, then 150 points gets you £1.50 to spend.

But vouchers can also be used to cut the cost of car fuel and can even be tripled in value to spend at various reward partners including Pizza Express and Cineworld.

You can also swap vouchers for money off your Tesco mobile bill.

Tesco’s Tash Whitmey, said: “We want to help customers’ household budgets stretch further right now and Clubcard is the best way to get great value with Tesco – from Clubcard Rewards to thousands of exclusive deals through Clubcard Prices.

“With more than £16m worth of Clubcard vouchers due to expire at the end of February, we’re reminding customers to spend them in what can be a tough time of year, as family budgets feel the new year strain.”

You can view your statement – and see how many points you have – in the Tesco Clubcard app. Just head to your account and select statements.

The news comes as the supermarket announced a major change to the scheme recently that could help save you cash.

How does the Tesco Clubcard scheme work?

Tesco’s Clubcard was launched in 1995, allowing shoppers to earn points as they shop which can then be turned into vouchers for money off food or other partner schemes.

Each time you spend £1 in store and online, you get one point when you scan your card or app.

You also get one point for every £2 spent on fuel.

One point equals 1p, so 150 points gets you £1.50, for example.

You’ll need a minimum of 150 points to request a voucher.

Once you have enough points, you can turn them into vouchers worth the face value to spend in store at Tesco, or you can triple their worth to spend at reward partners, including restaurants, and on days out.

Clubcard holders also get cheaper prices on some items compared to those without the loyalty card.
