Apple’s support page states: “Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.”

That means hackers could already be exploiting the flaw.

For security reasons, Apple can’t reveal specifics about the flaw in case a cybercriminal was inspired to take advantage of it before everyone has had the chance to update.

The tech giant explained: “For our customers’ protection, Apple doesn’t disclose, discuss, or confirm security issues until an investigation has occurred and patches or releases are available.”

We do know that the two issues are to do with Apple’s browser engine Webkit that’s used in Safari and all iOS browsers.

The good news is that it’s easy to update your iPhone and the update is avaliable for anyone with an iPhone 6s or later.

You should also update your iPad to iPadOS 14.5.1.

How to update iOS and iPadOS

To update your iOS software on your iPhone or iPad you first need to go to Settings.

Then scroll to “General”, click it and then click “Software Update”.

You’ll need to be connected to WiFi to select “download and install”.
