THOUSANDS on Universal Credit can expect to see payments land in their accounts early over the coming months.
If you’re on benefits and normally get paid on a Bank Holiday, you receive payments earlier.

You should receive your money the first working day before the date you are supposed to be paid.
The next Bank Holiday lands on August 28 – if you are due to be paid then you will receive your money on August 25.
Usually, you receive your first payment seven days after the end of your initial assessment period.
You don’t need to do anything if your usual date for getting Universal Credit falls on a Bank Holiday.
But make sure you factor any early payments into your budget as you’ll have to wait longer for the following one.
If your payment falls outside of August 28, you shouldn’t expect any changes at all.

The same rules apply. If you’re due a payment on August 28 you will receive your payment on August 25.
For Bank Holidays in Scotland and Northern Ireland which are different, households there may be paid after their usual payment date.
If you don’t receive your benefit payment on time, it’s worth checking with your bank first before contacting the DWP.
