The UK experienced the hottest day of the year so far on Saturday, as motorists were urged to prepare for the busiest late May bank holiday since before the pandemic.

The Met Office said temperatures climbed to 24.3C (75.7F) at Bramham, West Yorkshire, on Saturday afternoon.
