Sturgeon says the outbreak is concentrated amongst younger age groups, giving hope that the vaccination process is being effective in protecting older people.
“We are monitoring very carefully, whether and to what extend, the vaccine is breaking or weakening the link between case numbers and cases of serious illness and death,” she said.

She says that 3,196,051 have had their first dose and 1,971,006 have had both jabs. Case numbers are on the rise, with Friday having the highest figures since 25 March and the R number being as high as 1.3.
