STRANGE lights spotted over North Carolina in the US have sparked UFO conspiracies.
The string of lights in the sky was reported on by local news outlets and caused debate online.
The weird bright dots were spotted over the town of Charlotte.
The Charlotte Observer reported: “Multiple people have reported seeing an odd string of lights at night near Charlotte, igniting talk of UFOs on social media.”
A resident called Whitney Doucet posted her image of the lights on Facebook after noticing that other people were talking about them too.
The mysterious glowing blobs were seen floating over the state’s Indian Trail community.
One witness, called Alisa Homewood, told the Charlotte Observer: “My initial thought when I saw the lights was it was the helicopters in the distance, but as the lights got closer there was no sound.
“Then they went straight up into the sky and disappeared. No smoke, no debris.
“I couldn’t see anything around the light to suggest they were or were not lanterns, but the light flickered like you’d imagine a lantern would look.”
Lots of people have discussed the lights on the the “What’s Up Indian Trail?” community Facebook page.
Although no official explanation has been given there could be lots of answers.

The sightings come after the CIA recently declassified UFO documents.
Earlier this month, a treasure trove of CIA files about UFO sightings across the globe was published online.
Known as the “Black Vault”, the database is available thanks to a decades-long effort to access the CIA’s records, which date back as far as the 1980s.
Campaigner John Greenewald Jr., who operates the website, says it contains what the CIA claims is all of its documents on UAPs.
UAP is the US government’s preferred term for aerial objects that experts cannot immediately identify or explain.
Many may turn out to be tricks of the light or a fault in a pilot’s instruments, but a handful are targets of investigations by The Pentagon.
