TWITTER has gone down for thousands of users around the world on Monday.

The problem seems to be mainly affecting the social media’s website, according to Downdetector, but there also appears to be issues with the app.

Issues appear to have started at around 10.30pm and since then more than 10,500 reports of problems have been logged on the site.

According to Downdetector, 91 per cent of the problems were connected to Twitter’s website while four per cent were linked to the app.

Another six per cent were to do with the server connection.

In the UK, the problem appears to be mainly focused in London, Birmingham and Manchester.

One person, commenting on Downdetector said: “Website problems. Apps ok.”

Another wrote: “Yep, completely down. thought I was banned or something!!”

While a third added: “Twitter isn’t working.”

A fourth person chipped in with: “Yup down as down can be.”

Check your account to see if you’ve been affected.

If the message, “This page is down. I scream… You scream… We all scream… for us to fix this page. We’ll stop making jokes and get things up and running soon,” appears, then Twitter is down for you.

It is unclear at this time when Twitter will be fully operational again.
