Envoys from 10 countries who called for freeing of Osman Kavala to be declared persona non grata
The Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has moved to expel 10 ambassadors from western countries who called for the release of a jailed activist by ordering the envoys to be declared persona non grata.
Carrying out the expulsions would open the deepest rift with the west in Erdoğan’s two decades in power. Seven of the countries involved are Turkey’s Nato allies.
