LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman jumped into the fray to defend fellow billionaire Elon Musk against former President Donald Trump – blasting the former White House occupant as a ‘spoiled rich kid’ and ‘sore loser.’
‘Elon’s a classic immigrant story – an entrepreneur with a real record of success. Started EV revolution w/Tesla, resurrected US rocket industry w/SpaceX, fighting climate change while promoting American innovation,’ Reid said on Twitter.
‘Trump, OTOH, is a spoiled rich kid who bankrupts everything he touches. Including the US economy.’
The brouhaha began when Trump branded Musk as a ‘bullsh*t artist’ during a rally this month in Alaska, claiming that Musk told him he’d voted for him – a claim that Musk later refuted as ‘not true’ on Twitter.

LinkedIn cofounder Reid Hoffman blasted former President Donald Trump as he defended Elon Musk recently in a Twitter thread
‘His career highlight was pretending to be a successful entrepreneur on a TV show, instead of being one in real life like Elon.
‘Personally, I support people working to build a better future for America and the world.
‘Trump is such a stuck-in-the-past sore loser that he’d rather spread lies, incite insurrection and damage American democracy than admit he lost a fair election.’
‘Trump does have the unique achievement of personally profiting from running money-losing casinos. (He’s great as a grifter.),’ Hoffman, who has an estimated net worth of $2 billion, said.
Hoffman, with an estimated net worth of $2 billion, called Trump a ‘sore loser’ this week on Twitter in defense of Musk
Hoffman then called Trump’s social media platform Truth Social ‘another massive failure.’
Truth Social has about 2 million users in comparison to Twitter’s 330 million users.
Trump, who amassed over 88 million followers on Twitter, has been permanently banned from the social media platform since just after the January 6 insurrection.
Hoffman went on to call Trump a ‘grifter’ who has profited from money-losing casinos
The LinkedIn cofounder took a swipe at Trump’s Truth Social platform, also, branding it a ‘massive failure’
‘I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset,’ Musk said on Twitter in response to the voting claim.
‘Dems should also call off the attack – don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency.’
Musk has also said that the age of 82, which Trump would be at the end of a second term, is ‘too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States of America.’
President Biden is older than Trump and would be 86 at the end of a second term.
The SpaceX CEO’s comments reflect his prior critiques of America’s aging political leadership – known as gerontocracy.
He has also said there should be an upper age limit of 69 for anyone starting a presidential term.
During a rally in Alaska, pictured above, Trump called Musk a ‘bullsh*t artist’ and claimed he could have made Musk ‘drop to his knees and beg’ for federal subsides for Tesla
Musk responded at that time by saying he does not ‘hate’ Trump but that it was time for the ex-president to ‘sail into the sunset’ instead of running again in 2024
