Brandon Dean, professor of religious studies at the University of Iowa, wrote for The Conversation: ‘I argue that this TikTok phenomenon, in which viewers are promised good luck for sharing, liking and commenting on videos of a computer-generated Jesus, is close to what is known as the prosperity gospel – that is, a Christian belief that God will reward faith with this-worldly comforts, like health and wealth.’
‘Welcome Jesus Home,’ pinned to the top of the TikTok profile, is the most popular video on the page with 22.2 million views.

The same video offers a kind of damnation to users who do not share the clip with friends and family.

Christian TikTok has become a popular search, with a trove of videos and accounts dedicated to the religion.
In 2020, a TikToker by the name of Felicia, who was a self-proclaimed atheist, revealed she had turned to God after watching videos like TikTok Jesus, Christen Post reports.
The user pleaded with her followers for ‘help’ because she was feeling conflicted after identifying as an atheist for so long.
‘Now I’m really confused because all I see are videos about God and Jesus, and I actually prayed the other night, and I don’t know why,’ she explained in a video removed due to her previous account being hacked.
‘I guess I need help because I just don’t know where to start. I just don’t get how, if you guys claim He loves me so much, I don’t understand why I have denied Him so many times.’
She released another video the next day, sharing that she had overcome her fear of vulnerability with her new found faith.
