TIKTOK has had to ban a viral challenge that encourages children to steal from their schools.
The damaging TikTok trend is referred to as “devious licks”.
The term “lick” can be slang for stealing something successfully.
The ‘devious licks challenge’ has resulted in videos of kids stealing anything from soap dispensers to parts of the school roof.
However, TikTok recently announced that any videos associated with the challenge will be removed from the platform.
The app also stressed that TikTok users should “be kind” to their schools and teachers.
Official twitter page TikTokComms tweeted: “We expect our community to create responsibly – online and IRL.
“We’re removing content and redirecting hashtags & search results to our Community Guidelines to discourage such behavior.
It added: “Please be kind to your schools & teachers.”
The tag #deviouslick has been banned and any content associated with it has been removed.
It’s said the stealing videos had amassed hundreds of millions of views.
Most of the videos are edited to feature the song Lil B’s “Ski Ski BasedGod”.
A TikTok spokesperson told us: “We expect our community to stay safe and create responsibly, and we do not allow content that promotes or enables criminal activities.
“We are removing this content and redirecting hashtags and search results to our Community Guidelines to discourage such behaviour.”
