A THRIFTY mum has won Shed of the Year — the first woman to get the gong with a recycled £200 hut.
Kelly Haworth’s creation is cobbled together with discarded pallets, old doors and glass she bought online.
The 41-year-old mum of four — who only recently got her allotment after waiting years — said: “It’s been a real labour of love.
“I haven’t stopped dancing since I found out the news.
“I always enjoyed upcycling and reinventing items, which is even more important now that prices are on the rise again.
“I hope those that see my shed can look at it and say, ‘I can do that’.
“So much so that I’m actually going to start my own potting shed blog.”
Kelly’s shed, on her allotment in Bury, Gtr Manchester, is a glass-fronted hideaway with a kitchenette, tool store and bathroom.
It won her £1,000 and £100 of products from sponsor Cuprinol.
Cuprinol’s Marianne Shillingford said: “We love seeing the entrants making the most of the outdoors and that’s what Kelly has done. She’s managed to create a special place.”
