JD SPORTS fans will know that there are lots of bargains to be had on all sorts of sports items.

The company was founded in 1981 with the first store opening in Bury, Manchester.

JD Sports now has 3,400 stores across the globe with over 400 of those being set in the UK.

It sells all sorts of sport-related gear including trainers, kits, backpacks and equipment.

The company stocks big brands such as Adidas, Nike, Converse, North Face and New Balance.

But what should you always be picking up from JD Sports and what should you leave on the shelf? We reveal all.

What to buy at JD Sports

Trainers

It calls itself the “king of trainers” so if you’re going to buy anything from JD Sports, it probably should be shoes.

It sells a whole host of trainers from ones you’d wear day to day and ones you would train in.

It often has a sale on selected items too.

For example, at the time of writing it was selling men’s Adidas Originals trainers for £40.

In comparison, shoe retailer Size? was selling them for £55 and Asos had them for £85.

Football t-shirts

JD Sports often has deals on sports t-shirts too and you might be able to save some cash from it.

For example, when we checked it was offering shoppers two t-shirts for £30.

One top costs £20 so that’s a £10 saving.

Most of these items are from different football clubs like Manchester City or Chelsea so you could buy them for sports fans for a birthday or Christmas present.

JD Sports stocks branded clothing of various sports teams and they don’t cost too much.

Backpacks

Another go-to item at JD Sports would be its backpacks.

There’s a huge range to choose from including top brands like Adidas and Nike.

Most stores will have a wide variety to choose from but there’s even more online.

The quality also tends to be good and many of the products have great reviews.

If you’re looking for something to last a while and that is sturdy then you’ll find one at JD.

Prices of backpacks start from £23 and jump all the way to £100.

It might be worth checking in store for any sales or offers on too.

We spotted a Nike backpack that was going for £28 online.

In comparison, that same product was going for £32 on the Nike website – a small difference but a difference nonetheless.

What to avoid

Summer clothes

JD Sports has its own section called “summer clothes”.

These aren’t necessarily summer or holiday-only items but instead clothing like shorts and t-shirts.

But there are pretty much all branded items and you’re probably better off heading to Primark or somewhere else to pick up some holiday bargains.

For example, JD Sports was selling a girl’s white Nike top for £23 but shoppers might be able to get something similar (just without the logo) for roughly £5 in Primark.

Water bottles

JD Sports sells a selection of sporting accessories such as bags, boxing gloves, sweatbands and bottles.

But if you’re after a new bottle then you might want to try somewhere else.

JD Sports bottles are more expensive than other retailers.

For example, the cheapest bottle starts from £7 and goes all the way up to £34.

In comparison, Sicent in Sport sells them from £4.50 while Decathlon has one for £6.99.

These are pretty basic bottles but if you’re after something like a thermal bottle then JD is selling some for £20.

But Decathlon is selling one for £10.

Bear in mind that this is just an opinion and prices and stock quality will vary.

Every customer experience is different so it’s always worth doing your own research first.
