ARGOS is a hit with shoppers thanks to its great range of everyday essentials – but are there any items that you should avoid buying?

From homeware to tech, there really is something for everyone at Argos at pretty affordable prices.

The retailer currently has more than 800 stores across the UK, including concessions inside Sainsbury’s supermarkets.

But with so much choice on offer, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and perhaps miss picking out the best bargains for yourself.

Garden furniture

One thing shoppers definitely agree on is that Argos has hit the nail on the head with its garden furniture.

From egg chairs to hot tubs, the high street retailer has it all.

Shoppers have previously raved about a rattan effect egg chair being sold at Argos for £213 – down from £320.

Dozens of happy shoppers have left five-star reviews of the product on the Argos website.

Argos has also been known to drop the price of its garden furniture just before summer.

Last year, it launched a massive garden furniture sale, including hot tubs and gazebos in late May.

The sale include a four person hot tub for £360 and a Habitat corner sofa set with storage for £256.

Air fryers

Air fryers have become a must-have kitchen gadget in recent months.

They air fryer, grill and bake in the fraction of the time compared to a conventional oven – so you’re saving money as well as time.

Argos often has deals on these popular gizmos that shoppers just can’t get enough of.

Earlier this year, customers snapped up an Instant 4-in-1 3.8L air fryer for just £75.

Plus, savvy savers also spotted the Tower Vortx dual basket air fryer scanning for just £150 – £150 cheaper than on Tower’s website.

Energy saving gadgets

Argos offers smart shoppers energy saving products at very low prices – including heated airers and electric blankets.

Heated airers can dry your clothes more quickly than a traditional clothes horse.

They plug into the main electric, heating up the bars, and they are generally cheaper to run than a tumble dryer – though this can depend on your use.

Argos’ £55 heated airer is hugely popular with shoppers, amassing more than 1,700 four star reviews.

While the £50 Slumberdown Perfectly Warm electric blanket also had shoppers dashing to the checkout.

Items to avoid

While shoppers are often spoiled for choice when they pop into a Argos store, not everything is worth your money.

Argos fans have previously warned that items in its clearance section may not have actually been reduced.

Clearance items are usually heavily discounted because a retailer is about to discontinue them and wants to get rid of old stock quickly.

But some shoppers spotted products in Argos’s clearance section of the website are still listed at full price.

Argos said its items had been reduced, but it’s always worth double checking before you buy.

Meanwhile, price monitoring site PriceHistory.co.uk will be able to let you know if Argos has ever stocked the same item for less, to give you an indication of when is the best time to buy.

Argos is particularly popular with parents looking to get their children must-have Christmas toys.

But The Sun found that other retailers such as Amazon and The Entertainer can sometimes be cheaper.

For example, Argos was selling a NERF elite 2.0 ranger PD-5 blaster for £18 in December 2022.

But we found the toy on sale cheaper at Amazon (£12.99), The Entertainer (£14.99) and John Lewis (£17.99).
