After a minute, pop in 50g of frozen peas and a tin of baked beans.

Add the potato to the mixture and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Brush a sheet of filo pastry with oil and fold in half lengthwise.

Facing the short side of the pastry add two teaspoons of the mixture to the closest left-hand corner.

Fold the closest right-hand corner over to meet the left side, forming a triangle shape.

Continue folding until you reach the end.

Then bake in a preheated oven at 200C until golden brown, around 15 minutes.

SHEPHERD’S PIE: This Tesco Real Food recipe serves four for £2.15 each.

Chop an onion and two carrots and fry in a pan until soft.

Add 500g minced lamb for around four minutes to brown.

Add a tin of chopped tomatoes and 50ml beef stock and simmer for 30 minutes.

In the meantime, boil four medium-sized potatoes until soft, then make a creamy mash with butter and milk.

Add a tin of baked beans to the lamb mix and stir well before spooning into an oven dish.

Top with mash, bake for 30 minutes at 190C until golden brown.

BEAN FRITTERS: This recipe from Heinz serves four, for £1.67 each.

Mix together a tin of beans, a tin of sweetcorn, three thinly sliced spring onions and a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

Add two beaten eggs, then fold in 85g of flour, one teaspoon of baking powder.

Heat some oil in a pan and place two big spoonfuls of the mix to create one fritter.

Fry the fritters for two minutes each side.

Serve with salad and chutney.
