A LONDON home that looks like a tiny windowless shed on the outside has gone on the market for a whopping £750,000.

And despite initial appearances, the Tardis-style property boasts a fantastic surprise once the new owner opens their front door.

The unusual property is just 12 foot wide and – from the street – appears to cover just a single storey.

But hidden behind the front door is an open-plan kitchen and dining room, while on another floor below the ground, the homeowner will find two double bedrooms and two bathrooms.

It even has a little patio outside with its own outdoor shower.

Agents believe the 786 sq ft home in Islington was originally built as an infill property.

Paul Williams, from estate agents Savills, said: “This property is a bit of a Tardis. It’s definitely not your typical house.

“This part of London is very quirky. There’s lots of old buildings and gaps that get filled in, especially after bomb damage from the Second World War.

“The infill is very typical but this particular property and style isn’t typical.

‘IT’S A BIT OF A TARDIS’

“When you look at the property from the outside you take it for granted.

“You walk straight into the sitting room and all that ground floor is one big living space.

“You’ve got space for a dining table that’s big enough for eight people and it’s got lots of windows and light, which you wouldn’t expect from the front.

“From the outside it could be anything. It’s only about 12ft wide. But inside the colour and the finish and everything about it looks great.

“It’s a classic property to suit a single person or a young couple – first time buyers that will live in it for a few years and then move onto the next thing.”

The current owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “When we came for our first viewing, we were really excited by it.

“Not only is the property in a great area but it offered such scope and it was clear that after undertaking a significant amount of work, you could create something really quite special here.

VISITORS ARE ‘ALWAYS SURPRISED’

“We took time to work out the best way to format the space and created an upstairs living area that has been great for entertaining, while downstairs we have two good-sized double bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which is an outdoor shower.

“People are always pretty surprised when they come in at what the space entails – you just wouldn’t really know it from walking past the front door.

“Having really loved the time that we have spent here, it’s now time for someone else to enjoy it as much as we have.”

The property has great transport links and lots of shops and eateries nearby, as well as the open space of Clissold Park a mile away.

It’s a much more appealing space than many currently on the market in the capital.

Renters on a small budget are particularly challenged – and last week, we shared photos of a pokey studio flat with a bed fitted in a windowless cupboard.

The digs – which lie between Stockwell and Brixton in south London – cost a whopping £1,050 per month, excluding bills.

Snaps of the property show it boasts a well-fitted kitchen and small living area.

There’s also a tiled bathroom with a shower, while the living room even features an original fireplace.

But when it’s time for bed, the occupier must climb a wooden ladder before nodding off in a cupboard fitted with a double mattress.

And they won’t even be able to sit up and stretch in the morning – as the space is so cramped.
