CADBURY fans have been left fuming after realising an iconic Easter treat has been scrapped.

As Easter approaches, shoppers can now get their hands on a range of popular Cadbury chocolates – including the Crunchie and classic Dairy Milk.

But last year, Mondelez, which owns Cadbury, discontinued Dairy Milk Egg ‘n’ Spoon cartons

And some shoppers have only just noticed.

The firm justified the move in February last year and said it reflected “changing tastebuds”.

It means that the chocolate eggs won’t be available this Easter.

Fans of the treat – launched a decade ago – called the move a “crime” at the time.

And as Easter approaches, some shoppers have only just noticed it’s missing from the shelves.

One said: “Found out Cadbury have discontinued the Egg ‘n’ Spoons just as we lost to West Ham – this is the worst day of my life.”

Another wrote: “Sorry no way has Cadbury discontinued Egg and Spoons I’m so upset.”

A third added: “Missing Egg n Spoon intensely right now – hope Cadbury knows what it has done to me.”

At the time of the announcement last year, one person said: “Omg I am fuming, they are my favourite.”

“I’ve literally been looking everywhere for them because I love them so much and now it makes sense why I can’t find them,” said another.

A third shopper said: “This is an absolute crime. Cadbury’s bring them back.”

Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Egg ‘n’ Spoon product was made up of a purple egg box which contained four chocolate eggs wrapped in foil and set alongside two purple spoons.

Inside the hard chocolate shells, fans could scoop out a delicious chocolate mousse.

The Egg ‘n’ Spoon cartons were first launched in the UK in 2013 and various iterations hit the shelves over the last decade.

In a statement, Cadbury said: “Our Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘n’ Spoon cartons have been discontinued to reflect our fans’ changing taste buds.

“However, we have some great new treats to try this year!”

But shoppers have gone wild for a brand new Cadbury chocolate bar.

The creme egg bar is based on a Easter classic loved by the nation – and chocoholics just can’t get enough.

Cadbury fans have also been treated to new Mini Egg cookies.

Shoppers were sent into a frenzy after spotting the treat on the shelves of major supermarkets.

Packets come with four chocolate cookies “packed with micro mini eggs”.

Meanwhile, Morrisons has slashed the price of Easter eggs to just 75p.

Easter eggs of the Maltesers, Cadbury Buttons, Smarties, KitKat, and Freddo varieties – and more – now cost just 75p at the stores.

One chocolate lover shared the good news with Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK this week.

She wrote: “Easter eggs 75p Morrisons with a more card.”

A picture of the advertisement showed the 96g to 129g Easter eggs had been reduced in price from £1.50 to 75p for those with a More card.

Shoppers can get their hands on bargain Cadbury Mini Eggs, KitKat, Smarties, Maltesers, Cadbury Buttons, Cadbury White Buttons, and Cadbury Freddo.
