WHILE the Xbox Series X|S have been out for over a year, a new hack has been discovered that gamers are loving.
We all know that console notifications can be annoying, but sometimes turning them off isn’t an option.
It seems that a lot of Xbox owners haven’t realised that you can reposition the pop-up.
Not only is this great from a customisation point of view, but it’s invaluable in terms of accessibility,
Xbox engineering lead, Eden Marie, shared the trick on Twitter, which gamers in disbelief.
“Did you know that you can set the default location where notification popups appear on your console?” she tweeted, before sharing instructions on how to tweak this.
Just head to your settings, then navigate to ‘Preferences’, then ‘Notifications’.
In this menu, you can choose whether notifications pop up at all, as well as how long they appear for, and their position.
Select ‘Default notification position’ and then choose your ideal area on the grid.
“I’ve had an xbox since the 360 days and I didn’t know this.
“Why did no one tell me I always have to click the guide button so that cutscenes pause until achievement notifications bugger off,” said one bamboozled Twitter user.
The reason that so many people don’t know about the feature is because it rolled out in February 2020 and seems to have flown under the radar.
It’s worth noting that some games can override your preference. As Marie notes:
“Game overrides can and will override this preference (temporarily). That’s why this is only called “default” notification position.”
