YOU COULD SETTLE for a perfectly pleasant trip to Northern California’s Wine Country by visiting any number of wineries—indoor dining and tasting rooms are expected to open by April 1. But for a more whimsical twist on the tried-and-true, buzz on over to Healdsburg, where the Jordan Winery is pairing its vintages with a kaleidoscope of butterflies. The 1,200-acre wine estate has set aside 8 acres as new pollinator sanctuaries designed for California’s endangered native bumble and mason bees, monarchs and other butterflies. The proposition: Take a three-hour guided ramble across the property, followed by a picnic lunch with wine. You can book starting April 1 with the first tours launching Earth Day, April 22 ($110 per person). Thirstier visitors will want to beat their wings against the doors of the remodeled Library and adjoining cellar, where tastings will resume on May 1. Also available then: a prix fixe bistro lunch at the estate’s Paris on the Terrace, which will feature crudités from winery gardens. At Vista Point, an open glass tasting room atop the winery’s highest ridge, uncork a bottle of Jordan’s signature Cabernets and drink in 360-degree views.

Come evening, bunk down at the nearby Farmhouse Inn, a 25-room Forestville retreat with single-access entry, private fireplaces, a spa and Michelin-star dining. There’s also a tented patio for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but the evening’s highlight might just be making s’mores around the hotel’s fire pit (from $495 a night, farmhouseinn.com).
