THOUSANDS more households across the UK will see the £150 council tax rebate hit their accounts this week.
Residents in Gloucester, High Peak and Reading are among those getting the council tax rebate paid to help cover the cost of rising energy bills.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the support back in February as part of a support package amid the rising cost of living.
Anyone in the UK living in properties that fall under council tax bands A-D will be entitled to the one-off cash payment.
But as the payment comes directly from your local council, exactly when you get it varies depending on where you live and how you pay you council tax bill.
Those who pay by direct debit will typically see the free cash sooner than others, as their bank details are already on file.
And those who pay by other means will need to apply for the money – some councils began revealing how non-direct debit customers can claim the money.
Last week, residents in Sunderland, Leeds and Manchester received their payment, and more are set to receive the sum in their accounts this week.
