WINTER is coming! That means we’re all trying to find ways to hold off from putting on the heating.

And many of us will need to find a new space to dry our clothes in the absence of warm summer breezes.

Shoppers have spotted bargain heated airer covers that make all the difference when it comes to drying your clothes quicker.

Heater airers are a really effective way of keeping your energy bills low, they are much cheaper than a tumble dryer. Not to mention they add a little bit of extra heat to your home.

You simply plug them in and they gently heat up and dry your clothes without you needing to switch on the heating, some claim to be as cheap as 8p an hour to run.

But a lot of people don’t realise you can use a heated airer cover to trap the heat your airer produces and slash the drying time of your clothes even more.

A heater airer without a cover risks letting heat escape into the room you are drying clothes in.

Not bad for keeping your home warm, but not great if you’re trying to dry clothes quickly.

There are quite a few heated airer covers on the market but The Range is selling one of the cheapest ones available at the moment.

The bargain store describes the £4.99 cover as ‘the perfect way to save time and money’.

However, The Range’s cover is 70cm by 55cm, if you looking to get your hands on one of these for a heated airer you have already bought, you will need to check the measurements.

Some other options include the heated airer cover from Very, priced at £17.

A customer confessed: “I bought this last week and am so glad I didn’t wait as they are out of stock now, both my heated airers now have covers for quicker drying.”

Another said: “Fab for my Argos heated drier. However my cats presume it’s a heated bed for them… but the cover also keeps the cat hair off the clothes, whilst drying them and warming up the cats!”

People have left positive reviews on the Robert Dyas heated airer cover which is on sale at £12.99.

One shopper said: “The airer without this cover doesn’t perform well so it’s important that you buy this to use with it.”

“Easy to fit & effective. Does what it says on the description,” concluded another.

There is also the option of purchasing a heated airer with a cover included.

The Argos miky wing heated clothes air costs £60 a comes with a cover.

Some people have suggested you could potentially put a bedsheet over your heated airer to help try your clothes faster.

However, doing so could pose a fire risk as bed sheets are explicitly made to cover beds, not heated airers.

If you are looking for a heated airer make sure you shop around for the best price, you can use tools like Google Shopping, Idealo, Price Spy and Fakespot to compare prices.

How else you can reduce your bill

Turning down your thermostat just a few notches can help reduce your energy bills by up to £80 a year.

But keeping it at a steady temperature will help you save even more money.

Make sure you turn off any appliance you are not using and don’t leave them on standby as that could hike up your bills by £35.

Check to see if you may be eligible for grants and schemes like the Warm Home Discount, if you struggling with energy bills.

Those on Universal Credit and older legacy benefits could get over £3,000 in bill support.
