Tesla has reportedly halted all Cybertruck deliveries due to a potentially fatal flaw that causes the accelerator pedal to become stuck.

Many customers claimed to have received messages from Tesla and car dealerships, notifying them that their delivery appointment had been canceled, with some messages saying shipments will not commence until after April 20.

Dan Ives, managing director at New York’s Wedbush Securities, told DailyMail.com ‘We are not confident this will be resolved the next few weeks.’ 

The recall comes after a new Tesla owner shared the design flaw in a video, claiming the pedal cover slipped forward and wedged the accelerator under the interior that was held down 100 percent.

It is more misery for Tesla as 1,400 employees were laid off, many of whom work at the Texas Gigafactory where the Cybertruck is produced.

Ives also told DailyMail.com that it appears all Cybertruck deliveries have been paused. 

While Tesla has not made an official announcement, many of its fan accounts on X have spread the news.

Whole Mars Catalog, which seems to have a relationship with Elon Musk, posted:  ‘Tesla has stopped all Cybertruck deliveries for seven days due to an issue with the accelerator pedal.’ 

Sawyer Merrit, a Tesla investor, also shared the same update. 

Tesla does not have a media relations department, and often doesn’t disclose key news to the public. 

The EV owner said they ‘did not panic’ and held the break down to override the pedal and stop the Cybertruck.

‘Looks like there is a recall for that,’ he said in the video.

Many customers awaiting their Cybertruck delivery have claimed that Tesla notified them that their EV would be delayed.

Darick Hemphill Missouri shared on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum that he was set to puck his up this past weekend.

‘Just got a call that there was a recall on the truck,’ the post reads.

‘Came in about 15 minutes ago per the person who called me.

‘They stated that there was a problem with the accelerator and that they would know on Monday how soon parts would arrive to fix it. If this is a practical joke from a friend of mine…. It is perfect.

‘I was so excited to finally get my Cybertruck. Now just broken-hearted.’

Other users of the platform checked the accelerator pedal of their vehicles – some found no issues, while others were able to pull the cover off instantly.

‘I popped mine off without trouble. Only held on there by two plastic clips. For now, I’ll just drive without the cover,’ one California user shared.

‘If yours is secure like some are reporting, I wouldn’t worry about it at all.

‘Just be aware and also keep in mind that you can press the brake pedal to override the accelerator.’

While the latest issue stems from what could be faulty welding, other Cybertruck owners have found issues under the hood with the steering system.

A handful of videos have been shared online showing customers driving their new Cybertruck off the lot just to have it break down in a few minutes. 

Entrepreneur Thomas Remo shared a video of him picking up the $82,000 EV in Irvine, California, later finding it ‘broke not even six inches off the lot’ and failed another ’30 times’ after on the first day. 

Moments after Remo excitedly steps on the gas peddle, the center screen started flashing red and beeping to alert him about a critical steering issue.

 While Tesla has not acknowledged the issue or provided details to what could be causing it, others believe the flaw is with the steer-by-wire system. 

The new technology eliminates the physical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels of a car by using electrically controlled motors to change the direction of the wheels and to provide feedback to the driver.

The downsides of a steer-by-wire system are maintenance and cost – and if the connection is not perfect, drivers will experience what happened to Remo.
