TESCO customers have been left furious after being forced to queue for Christmas delivery slots as the supermarket’s website crashed.

Hundreds of thousands of shoppers are currently waiting in the queue.

A number are also reporting that the app has crashed for them.

It comes after the supermarket chain opened its festive delivery slots at 6am this morning for customers with Delivery Saver plans.

Furious shoppers have taken to social media following the issues.

One said: “Progressed to the front of the queue then thrown back to 290,000!

“Pretty time consuming and the inconvenience is somewhat disappointing. Thanks for looking into it.”

A second miffed customer said: “Finally getting through after being 100,000 odds from before 6 and now getting this.

“Wonder what the point in Delivery Saver is when you can’t get the slots sorted at Christmas.

While a third added: “Thanks Tesco for another Christmas delivery farce.

“‘Priority’ slots released at 6. Joins queue at 5.45am. Get to number 70000 something, app refreshes and kicks me out.

“Now 150,000ish. Glad I’m paying for the privilege of Delivery Saver.”

Deliver Saver is a paid-for service that offers customers priority access to Tesco deliveries.

Customers paying for the Delivery Saver – Anytime Click and Collect plan can get Click and Collect slots for today, November 15.

However delivery slots aren’t available until November 22.

Meanwhile, all other customers not paying for a Delivery Saver subscription will have to wait until November 22 for Click and Collect and delivery slots.

It’s not the first time Tesco’s app or website has gone down.

In September, its app and website went down with shoppers claiming they were unable to process online orders.

In August, the app and website went down for nearly 3,000 customers.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “We’re currently seeing a high number of visits to our website and Groceries app and some customers are temporarily having difficulty logging on or placing orders.

“We’re really sorry about this. There are still slots available for both home delivery and click & collect over the Christmas period and we’re working to get things back up and running as quickly as we can.

“In the meantime, we recommend that customers use our website to place their order.”
