TESCO’S website and app crashed earlier today leaving hundreds of customers unable to process their orders.

According to Downdetector, as of 11.33am this morning, there were 276 reports of issues with the supermarket giants‘ website.

Just over 80% of the issues were related to their website, and 9% to its app.

The majority of affected customers were in London, but there were also reported issues coming in from Manchester, Cardiff and Norwich as well.

The problem has since been rectified.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “We’ve fixed an intermittent technical issue that briefly impacted a small amount of customers using our website and app this morning.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience this caused.”

Customers took to social media expressing their frustration following the outage.

One said: “I have been getting timed out or a 504 bad gateway error for about an hour. I imagine it’s causing other people issues too.”

Another said: “Can’t get past choosing my delivery. Tried three different devices through last hour. Getting “Oops that didn’t work”.”

Tesco experienced similar issues in February this year.

And the supermarket chain had a similar outage the month before, leaving shoppers locked out of their accounts.

How to check if the Tesco app and website are working

The best way to see if there are issues with the Tesco website or app is to check directly.

You can also see whether other customers have reported issues on Downdetector.

And sometimes, shoppers can also check the supermarket’s social media pages where updates are posted.

Can you claim compensation for outages?

But if being unable to access your account has left you out of pocket, it’s worth contacting Tesco to see if you’re entitled to anything.

You should also gather evidence, for example a delivery receipt, and can call 0800 323 4040 with online grocery order issues. The line is free to use.
